Several classmates emailed about the sad paasing of John DeMarra. He and I went all the way back to the first grade together along with many other of our classmates. Below is part of his obituary:
Mr. John Robert DeMarra, Jr., 49, of 144 Bobwhite Drive, Reidsville died suddenly at Annie Penn Hospital on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.
Mr. DeMarra was born June 25, 1960 in Alamance County, NC. He was a graduate of Williams High School and Guilford College.
Survivors include his wife, Faith Baynes DeMarra of the home; step-son, Christopher Baynes of Reidsville; three step-grandsons, Javen, Zamari and Karlo; parents, John R. "Jack" DeMarra, Sr. and Gloria Matkins DeMarra of Burlington; a sister, Janie DeMarra of Mebane; and two nieces, and several cousins.

It's so hard to believe. I can't remember a time when I didn't know John. He sat next to me in 3rd grade. We were in Scouts together where his dad was the scoutmaster. We went to the same church and Sunday school class. I will miss you, John.
