In Memory

Toby Boswell

This post was received from Brian Herring on September 30, 2008:

I wanted to tell you what I remember of Toby. Toby was born Sept. 20, 1959.We were good friends in school. After graduating from WHS, we went our separate ways.

However, while I was living in Burlington in the late 80's I had the opportunity of seeing Toby at Skid's. We sat around for a several hours catching up on old times. After Toby got out of school he bounced around a bit. Eventually though he moved to and began working down at Myrtle Beach and was actually enjoying his life.

Toby was killed on February 18, 1989. When I learned of his death, I went to the funeral and found out from one of his relatives that Toby was on his way home from work late one night and he saw a car broken down on the side of the road and someone was trying to flag him down to stop and help them. Toby pulled over and was helping this stranger fix the car late at night in the rain and a drunk driver came by and hit and killed him while he was helping someone else in despair.

I remember Toby from school always shy and reserved, but at the same time would be willing to help you out in a pinch without having to ask. Though Toby has passed away, he was a great asset to life on earth.
